The Aon Kenya Total Employee Benefits Solution is an innovative, practical and holistic employee benefits solution that provides employers with one employee benefit solution as opposed to separate and independent solutions which makes it cost effective.

The employees are fully covered from all risks ranging from accidents, illness or death through natural causes irrespective of which sector they may be engaged in.
Aon Kenya Total Employee Benefits Solution comprises of the following:
Group Life Assurance (GLA): is a cover for groups (normally occupational groups) against the event of death or disability due to illness, accident or natural causes. The benefit riders include Funeral expense, Critical Illness &Permanent Total Disability.
The Group Personal Accident (GPA) is a 24 hour Insurance that provides cover to the insured persons in respect of an accidental death, bodily injury that may occur at work, home, while traveling or during recreation.
The Work Injury Benefits Act (WIBA) insurance, which came into force in 2008, makes it compulsory for every employer to provide cover for all their employees against bodily injury, disease or death sustained and arising out of and in the course of their employment. It provides for death, disability, medical expenses and funeral expenses benefits.
a) Death Benefit |
Illness/ accident / natural causes |
A capital sum equivalent to the member’s Salary shall be paid if an employee dies while in service due to illness/natural causes. |
Accidental Death |
The death benefit is payable in the event of an accidental death of the insured person. The payment is based on the cover limits insured, payments for claims are made upon such death being reported and on production of the relevant document in proof of death e.g. a death certificate etc. |
b) Permanent Total Disability |
Illness/ accident / natural causes |
A capital sum equivalent to a member’s salary is paid if a member becomes permanently disabled due to accidental, illness or natural causes. |
Accidental |
This benefit is payable if an employee is permanently and totally disabled due to accidents which is confirmed within 180 days from the date of accident. This could be, for example, permanent loss of hands or legs. The amount of benefit under this section will be determined by the severity of the disability as specified in the continental scale and subject to the cover limits chosen. |
c) Temporary total disablement benefit |
This benefit is payable following an accident where the insured is totally disabled for a temporary period of time i.e. the insured is not able to attend to his usual calling at work. |
d) Last Expense Benefit: |
This is a capital sum is payable in 48 hours upon notification of death irrespective of the cause of death. This goes to cover the funeral expenses. |
e) Critical Illness Benefit: |
The Life Cover also includes a Critical Illness Benefit which is equivalent to 30% to the members’ death benefit on first diagnosis of a listed critical illness up to a specified limit. This assists the employees to seek medical treatment on diagnosis of the illness: Listed Critical Illness include: Heart attack, cancer, stroke, kidney failure, major organ transplant, coronary artery bypass surgery, paraplegia / paralysis. |
f) Medical expenses benefit: |
The policy will provide cover for medical expenses incurred following accidental injury subject to policy limits. The expenses are reimbursed upon the production of the relevant medical bills but arrangements may however be made to have the bills paid directly to the attending medical institution. |
g) Free Cover Limit: |
Each group scheme has a non-medical testing limit specified by the insurer based on level of risk for the scheme. Those members whose benefits are above this limit, they will be required to undertake medical examinations paid for by the insurer. Failure to comply, the members will be restricted to the Free Cover Limit or the last underwritten sum assured. |

g) Single claim reporting: For one accident there is only one claims reporting function for all policies so multiplicity of effort in management of claims is eliminated. |
EXCLUSIONS
Any risks arising indirectly from the following are excluded under this policy:
- Aviation including micro light flying, except for the passengers and crew of airlines and private flying purely for transport purposes during course of duty as assigned by the employer
- Atomic energy and or nuclear fusion or reaction or ionizing radiation
- Mountaineering
- Skydiving
- Horse racing
- Motor rallying
- Skiing
NO EXCLUSIONS ON
Passive terrorism, war, invasion, act of foreign enemy, hostility or warlike operation, civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military or usurped power or popular rising material law, strike, riot, civil commotion or mutiny.
